LAMBORGHINI - MOST COMMON FAULTS
LAMBORGHINI - MOST COMMON FAULTS
Lamborghini Cars are the type of cars we all dream about when we're kids, and later on, we pursue our dream of getting this Super Sport car and enjoying the raw power of a V12 engine.
Now, all Lamborghini models are incredibly amazing, and each model features new and more advanced options comparing with previous models.
Today I will talk about one of the most common Lamborghini models and the failures that our Lamborghini specialists have met in German Experts Service Center.
These failures are neither met for all Lamborghini cars, nor appear all at once, but it's good to have a clue of what to expect when purchasing a Lamborghini.
The LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO model was first released in 2003, and the model has been improved till 2013 when the last Lamborghini Gallardo was produced.
Some of the most common failures on Gallardos are:
Clutches – When the first Gallardo models were released, the clutches were getting damaged after 5.000 to 10.000 km. Over the years, the clutches have been slightly improved. The latest E version is much improved, but failures have still been reported.
E Gear System – Sluggish Shifting- hydraulic actuator may be failing. Gallardo E-gear may not have a traditional shift-lever, but it does have a reasonably conventional gearbox. A device called the hydraulic actuator does the gear shifting when the paddles at the steering wheel are pulled back. The hydraulic actuator may fail by developing an internal leak (sometimes not long after the warranty runs out).
Although it rarely happens, the Hydraulic Pump and Power Steering Lights sometimes will indicate a failure.
German Experts have also repaired Lamborghini with engine failures and with issues related to engine valve timing.
The other model that is worth talking about is the Lamborghini Murciélago.
The Lamborghini Murciélago model was first produced by Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini between 2001 and 2010. The successor of the Diablo and flagship of the automaker's lineup, the Murciélago was introduced as a coupé in 2001.
Now, let's talk about the faults encountered by German Experts Service Center in the Murciélago models:
Same as the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Murciélago has a sensitivity with clutches and the E- Gear System.
Other than this and particularly for this model, our Lamborghini specialist says that the most common faults on the Murciélago model are:
The return hose front nose lift system. The system runs off power steering Dexron. If this return hose leaks, then the car is pretty much undrivable. It's a good idea to replace this hose and flush the fluid.
Cooling Line Failure on the passenger side occurred a problem that German Experts Lamborghini mechanics have met. When this failure occurs, the car will create a big mess leaking coolant behind the passenger door and producing a lot of smoke.
Another issue for which some Lamborghini Murcielago has had been recalled is the Gas Tank, which leaks the gasoline out from the car when the tank is full. This might lead to a fire.
Engine Valve Timing is another common problem in Lamborghini Murciélago. Is if there are any failures with this part, the engine might not turn over or misfires. Ticking noises can also be heard coming from the engine, and an oil leak might be found in front of the motor.
Last but not least, the Lamborghini Aventador, designed to replace the old Murciélago as the new flagship model. Till 2016 Lamborghini have sold 5000 unit milestone.
In German Experts Service Center, we have the satisfaction of receiving this particular model periodically. Usually, Lamborghini Aventador requires service, but some of the models have had failures after a specific time or without a proper Lamborghini periodical maintenance service.
One of the most common problems with the Gallardo and Murciélago models are: clutches overheating and the gasoline tank leaking the petrol onto the exhaust system.
Another problem that we meet with a few of the Lamborghini Aventador we are servicing was the transmission. Due to bad design, a transmission seal is known to cause leaks, which can ultimately cause the transmission to fail. This issue was most familiar with the 2012 model years.
As for the 2012 models, we can find a stiffer suspension that seems to skip and jump at times, which can unsettle the car and cause accidents for unskilled drivers.
Other technical issues can be seen with the ECU of the Aventador that sometimes will need reprogramming and to be changed.
Now that we have covered the most common faults found in Lamborghini cars, met by German Experts Service Center team, we would like to let you know that buying a Lamborghini is an outstanding choice, but at the same time a costly one.
So, before buying a used Lamborghini, we recommend you to bring the car to German Experts Service Center, or to any other car service center that is equipped and prepared to check and repair Lamborghini as per the factory standards for a full check-up as we offer here in German Experts Service Center.
